China Fancy Pi Lo Chun
Exquisite, hand-shaped curls and twists sit in contrast to a profusion of downy buds, making Pi Lo Chun-"Spring Snail Shell"--perhaps the most beautiful of all Chinese teas. This tiny production of 267 kilograms from specialists in Guangdong Province will have no trouble gaining admirers, for such beauty extends to the character of the pale yellow-green cup. Roasted chestnut dominates the front end, with light white flower and fruit notes in tow. Subsequent steepings turn down the volume, emphasizing a softer, floral signature to the tea.
Preparation: One heaping teaspoon per 8oz cup of filtered water, boiled and cooled for approximately 7-8 minutes to 80°C/176°F. Allow to brew 2 minutes.
